| This picture was taken at an orphanage in Pemba, Mozambique in February of 2007. King of Kings church sponsored a missions trip to Pemba to help at an orphanage that houses over 400 children who have lost their parents - mostly due to the AIDS crisis that is plaguing the continent of Africa. Most of the children look happy because, even though they have lost their parents, living at the orphanage is a drastic improvement to the violence they faced living on the streets and the need to pick through garbage to find enough food to eat. The situation in Mozambique is dire and much assistance from the West is needed; nothing complicated, they just need people who are willing to hold the babies and provide basic TLC to the children. Those of us who visited were deeply impacted and hope to return one day to continue the mission. |
